Founded in 1952, by Fr. Matthias Lani, D.S.V. Danubia Soccer Club, along with the St. Stephens Soccer Club, marked the beginning of our German-American Danube-Swabian Association and Community in California (Donauschwäbische Vereinigung, Kalifornien).

Pastor of our ethnic St. Sephen's Catholic Church in Los Angeles, Fr. Lani sponsored over 2,000 of our Danube-Swabian refugee families, mostly from Yugoslavia, with their immigration process.

Danubia has always been Fr. Lani's favorite and I played for the team for 35 years. The Club has been my heart since 1958, with many wonderful memories! (You will find some of these stories in my autobiography, "My Insatiable Quest for Truth and Enlightenment," scheduled for publication by the end of 2024
